Look up at the night sky. You can see the Moon, stars and in some months other planets. All that we see is part of the universe. We, and all living things and non-living things on the Earth are part of the universe.

Celestial bodies

All these objects that we see in the sky are also called heavenly bodies or celestial bodies.

We have read about the Sun, the Moon and our planet Earth. In this chapter, we will learn how all these celestial bodies are connected to one another.

In the old days, people thought that Earth was at the centre of the universe. They also thought the Sun, Moon and all the heavenly bodies were going round the Earth. But now we know that it is not true.
