A continent is a very large area of land separated by large water bodies. Continents cover one third of the earth. There are seven continents on the earth. The seven continents are – Asia, Europe, Africa, North America, South America, Australia and Antarctica. If you look at the map of the world you will notice that a large part of the land mass lies in the Northern Hemisphere. Five of the seven continents are joined by land to another continent, while Antarctica and Australia are separated from the others by oceans. Each continent has a wide range of different landscapes, weather and animal life.
